ILGM Seeds: Cindarella 99 and God Bud Outdoor Grow

ILGM Seeds: Cindarella 99 and God Bud Outdoor Grow

A lot of growers prefer outdoor growing mostly because of its benefits and how it cuts down costs. First, nobody can deny that the sun is the most powerful light source there is. Next, no boundaries when it comes to growing spaces. The world is the oyster, as they say, of course as long as it is in the grower’s property. Another fact is the ventilation covers the area for free.

However, outdoor growers still have some repercussions to look out for. They have the federal agents and other uncontrollable factors like the insects, weather etc.

These are only some of the things that DaGoose had to conquer. Aside from the fact that the seeds are of different strains as well which implies they may have different needs. Read on to see the different adventures this newbie grower had to conquer as he nurtures the following:

DaGoose and the ILGM Seeds

ILGM Chronic Widow

Sativa-dominant Chronic Widow is a strain developed in Amsterdam since the early 90’s. Since then it has maintained its popularity and has been smokers’ favorite ever since. The most famous effect of this strain is a sudden boost of energy which also enhances creativity.

Also, Chronic Widow is also popular for its medicinal effects. It is known to treat chronic pain, depression, PTSD, anxiety among others.

Soaring high since winning the High Time’s Cannabis Cup in 2000 for Best Indica, Blueberry is still a crowd favorite. One of the things that make it famous is its sweet flavors that resemble that of its fresh fruit counterpart. The taste and aroma combine with relaxing effects and creates a long-lasting sense of euphoria.

This way, it can also help lessen the pain and muscle strain. Other smokers also claim its relief from pain.

One of the things that make it famous is its sweet flavors that resemble that of its fresh fruit counterpart. The taste and aroma combine with relaxing effects and creates a long-lasting sense of euphoria.

This way, it can also help lessen the pain and muscle strain.

ILGM Gold Leaf

A strain specially concocted by ILGM’s very own Robert Bergman, Gold Leaf perfectly balances sativa and indica effects. The top of the list for its effects is its hit being a mood booster. This strain is known to induce feelings of happiness, euphoria, and uplifting one’s mood.
As for the medical effect, Gold Leaf is known to ease chronic pain. It also helps increase the appetite while reducing one’s stress.

ILGM Cali Dream

Its unknown heritage does not stop growers from nurturing Cali Dream Seeds. This strain is fairly easy to grow that rewards the growers with huge and fluffy buds laden with resin and trichomes. Not to mention, its taste of citrus, mint, and sweetness also allure the smokers.

As for its effects, this strain gives a cerebral euphoria which boosts creativity and awakens one’s thoughts. This lasts for a long period of time and is subtly followed by deep relaxation and sedation that provides inflammation and pain relief.

Cindarella 99

Quite famously known as “Cindy”, Cindarella 99s is a mix breed of seeds found in a Sensi and a 2-gram package of Jack Herer. It has maintained its legendary status in growers because of its short, bushy stature that gives high yield in a short flowering time.

Not to mention, its high THC content (23%) usually gives the effect of a euphoria, uplifting mood and a dreamy kind of thinking.

God Bud

Growers adore the large, dense and purple-hued buds while the plant itself only has a short and compact stature. Although, the entire pedigree is somewhat of a mystery, one thing is certain and that is this strain is a mix of Hawaiian, Purple Skunks and an ambiguous strain only referred to as “God”.

Nonetheless, its hallucinogenic high is aided by flavors of tropical fruit with undertones of berry, lavender, and pine.

Vegetative Period

2018-04-01

Before actually planting the seeds, DaGoose still needs to prepare a lot of things and make some improvements. A drip system for nutrients and water was supposed to grace the grow tent but he deemed it unnecessary as of now. Instead, he added a Galaxyhydro 600-watts LED light that features full spectrum perfect for both vegetation and flowering stages.

2018-04-01

Now that everything is falling into place, three ILGM Gold Leaf, two ILGM Blueberry and two God Bud seeds are soaking in water as of today. They are actually atop white laden plywood on top of DaGoose’s bathtub in the bathroom which is serving as the temporary grow room.

2018-04-08

After one full day of soaking in water, he then transferred it on wet paper towels in a Ziploc bag. Then, sandwiched it between two dinner plates and placed it on top of a seed warmer. Unsure whether it is because of the warmer, but a majority of the seeds did not pop.
Only one of the three Blueberry Seeds:

None for the Gold Leaf Seeds. One started sprouting but broke off along the way:

2018-04-08

A rare case for this grow, but both God Bud Seeds sprouted:

2018-04-08

Nonetheless, DaGoose buried all seeds in soil today.

2018-04-17

The seeds basked under the rays of Galaxyhydro 600-watts LED lights once they are buried in the soil. However, the emission of the LED may be too strong for the seeds and they turned out baked. Only one ILGM Blueberry seed survived the ordeal and sprouted.

To replace, DaGoose started two Gold Leaf and two God Bud seeds in water. Although this time, he avoids using the seed warmer.

2018-04-27

Since the nutrients arrived, along with the newly ordered seeds, DaGoose soaked Chronic Widow and Cali Dream seeds in water. After 24 hours, all seeds sprouted and cracked soon thereafter.

2018-05-01

After much anticipation, the Cindarella 99 seeds arrived in the mail today. As he prepares the seeds for germination, the new panda film curtain hangs inside the bathroom for the ladies.

ILGM Chronic Widow and Cali Dream seeds successfully popped:

2018-05-14

Since the girls arrive, pop and sprout at different times, it is hard to tell which ones are older than the others. Nonetheless, those who came from the first batch namely: ILGM Blueberry, ILGM Gold Leaf and God Bud developed yellowing of their bottom leaves since last week. Since those appeared, the growth of the plants also stopped.

2018-05-14

2018-05-14

DaGoose also saw some bugs crawling on the soil of the Cali Dream and ILGM Chronic Widow, he obtained some food grade DE and sprinkled it on top. Once done, the plants are given:

  • Liquid Karma
  • Cal-Mag
  • Silica Blast

A few days later, these two seem to have grown enough to be transplanted into bigger pots. Filled with Roots Organics 707 soil, the neophyte grower feels a little experimental and added Great White mycorrhizae - a growth and roots enhancer.

2018-05-14

2018-05-14

Meanwhile, Cindarella 99 (Cindy) cracked and sprouted. Although, DaGoose does not want to be too sure.

2018-05-14

2018-05-15

Plants with yellow leaves’ condition show no improvement as of today. DaGoose chose to give them another round of nutrients to aid their recovery.

  • Cal-Mag
  • Liquid Karma
  • Silica Blast
  • Botanicare PRO Grow Soil Nutrients

2018-05-19

These are the Blueberry and Gold Leaf from ILGM, along with the God Bud from another seeds courier. They are the plants who experienced yellowing of the leaves. Slowly but surely, these ladies are recovering from what happened.

2018-05-19

Looking at the lower half of the biggest plant, the yellowing of the leaves severely lessened and the new growths are a healthy greenish color.

2018-05-19

ILGM’s Chronic Widow and Cali Dream plants are doing better than expected. DaGoose admits he did a great job not messing these two up.

2018-06-07

As DaGoose went on a vacation, he left the ladies in the care of a friend. Thankfully all of them are great and only needed a little sunshine.

After lounging under the sun for a while, DaGoose topped all plants except the Cindarella 99s which are the youngest of the lot. He thinks they are not yet ready for some high-stress training (HST).

DaGoose decided this would be outdoor grow after all. The ladies, except for the Cindarella 99s again, are now positioned outside in 15-gallon pots. Still using Roots Organics 707 soil, although he mixed 30% of the recommended dosage of Botanicare nutrients.

It is one of the Cindarella 99s’ turn for some transplanting. DaGoose considers these two as his prized possessions as they cost $30 a piece. Nonetheless, he wanted to do a little experiment on these ladies as well.

Instead of Roots Organics 707 mixed with Botanicare nutrients, soil used is similar to the previous grow that he had. It includes other supplements and enhancers like Bat Guano and Fish Bone Meal. Perlite added to the bottom of the pots aids in the drainage of excess water.

2018-06-19

Then, for mobility, Da Goose reinforced a Harbor Freight dolly. He wanted to be able to move the Cindarella 99s whenever needed.

2018-06-19

2018-06-25

The dolly seems to be a lot of help which encouraged DaGoose to buy six more of it for easy transport. Although, he added a 1” x 4” wooden panel in the middle for a better pot support.

Today would also mark the beginning of their weekly preventive bug maintenance. For the first try, Spinosad used to water around the edges of the pots is going to be his weapon. In the coming weeks, it is going to be an alternate for BT Bug Killer.

ILGM Cali Dream

DaGoose wants to lie low with giving these ladies nutrients to lower their nitrogen level. Of all plants, these two appears to be most susceptible to nitrogen burns based on his observations.

ILGM Chronic Widow

2018-06-25

God Bud and ILGM Blueberry

This is only this rookie grower’s second grow. The first time, he also planted Blueberry seeds from ILGM. With that, the hopes for this round’s ILGM Blueberry is high.

2018-06-25

Look at last season’s Blueberry Grow:

2018-06-25

Cindarella 99

One of these Cindarella 99s is in a bigger pot because she experienced topping at least once. Their grower is thinking of doing another one to keep it in better shape and moderate its form. The other one in the smaller pot is left untouched because DaGoose deemed she is in a great shape.

2018-06-25

2018-07-01

With few weeks left before the ladies begin flowering, DaGoose took this opportunity to top them one last time to get the bushy shape of the plant he is aiming.

2018-07-01

2018-07-01

2018-07-08

The temperature in Southern California is rising. Yesterday, it rose to 105, and dropped to 95 today. Lucky for DaGoose, all strains are sturdy and could withstand extreme weathers.
As a matter of fact, ILGM Blueberry enjoyed the strong rays of light yesterday and looks like it is ready for the stretch.

2018-07-08

2018-07-11

One thing that outdoor growers always need to look out for is bugs. In this case, a ladybug was lurking in one of the Cindarella 99s.

2018-07-11

Flowering Period

2018-07-22

It looks like flowering already commenced. In DaGoose’s observation, it has been a week since all plants started stretching. ILGM Blueberry even lives up to his expectations as the plant spreads.
Bud sites also crowd each plant as they grow. Here are ILGM Blueberry and God Bud:

2018-07-22

ILGM Chronic Widows are not that far behind.

2018-07-22

Cali Dream, one of which looked like a runt a few weeks back, flourishes with taller stems and a lot of bud sites.

2018-07-22

Last but not the least are the Cindarella 99s. While they may not have stretched as much as the others, they look happy and healthy. The plant on the left experienced topping twice and one on the right, once. Nonetheless, they both have been able to maintain their shape.

2018-07-29

White pistils made their appearances on all plants. They first grew on ILGM Blueberry and God Bud, then Chronic Widow and Cali Dream and then on the smaller Cindarella 99. The bigger one barely has any pistils to show.

2018-07-29

2018-08-06

All plants have stretched enough to be seen over the fence, and since DaGoose needs it to be a discrete grow, he had to mix them up with some tomato plants to hide them a bit. The ladies also need to move to an area where sunlight does not shine that much but they are left with no choice.

2018-08-06

2018-08-12

It may still be helpful that the ladies are in some sort of shade. The temperature has not gone down yet but sadly, it seems like the main stalk of the Blueberry plant broke in two. Zip ties around the stalk now hold it together and hopefully helps with the reparation.

2018-08-12

As for their nutrients under this scorching hot sun, DaGoose still does everything from mixing the nutrients and measuring the pH manually since the drip system has not been hooked up yet.

2018-08-20

After going about the usual routine of watering the plants after work, DaGoose was surprised to see the main branch of the taller Cindarella 99 snapped. It is not windy in the are but it split right at the first knuckle. Once again, zip ties wrapped around the stem would heal the pieces together.

2018-08-20

Sad to say, the plant died almost immediately and only three branches survived.

The next step of the plan now is to make a cage for all the ladies. This would serve as additional support and can even prevent this misfortune from happening again. DaGoose already started on some, but is still far from finished.

2018-08-20

2018-08-27

DaGoose’s problems are not yet over. Looper moths attacking developed buds on the God Bud and Blueberry plants are what he needs to tackle next. It has been infesting them since last week and BT Bug Killer only lessened the amount. Last week, he picked a total 15 bugs last week and at least seven since spraying BT.

Luckily, he has at least one thing going and that’s the girls getting caged. Although, with everything happening, the drip system might not be used after all. Their grower enjoys hand watering so much to bother with it now.

2018-08-27

2018-08-27

2018-08-27

2018-09-08

After the looper moth infestation comes to the caterpillars. This is one of the disadvantages of growing outdoors, there are a lot of uncontrollable factors that can affect the plants’ growth. Although, a tidbit of good news is all the girls are already caged. DaGoose already trimmed the leaves so airflow is better.

2018-09-08

ILGM Blueberry buds are not the same as last year's grow journey. It may have been because of the area where they reside now does not receive as much light. The plant itself has not stretched buds and only grew short yet fat buds.

2018-09-08

ILGM Chronic Widow buds, on the other hand, are tall at 16”. DaGoose is proud that buds as tall as these are dominating a majority of the Chronic Widow plants.

2018-09-08

The Cindarella 99s are very sweet smelling with dense and frosty buds.

2018-09-08

2018-09-11

Still on Cindarella 99s, the trichomes on these plants are already clear and cloudy. It would not be too long until they are ready for harvest.

2018-09-11

2018-09-22

As if the caterpillars, ladybugs and other insects are not enough, a gigantic spider appears to guard one of the Cali Dream plants. Not much can be said for its effects and the buds are still fat and happy.

2018-09-22

2018-09-29

This grow is quickly taking a downside turn as the temperature rises in the area. As soon as DaGoose noticed what looks like caterpillar damages, he quickly sprayed some Spinosad to counter or prevent further losses. Once the fog from the early morning starts to fade, he noticed that it was not from bugs at all but are bud rots.

After a gruesome 12 hours of trying to salvage what is left of the crops. All in all, there only about 50% of the good buds left. He is left with no choice but to harvest everything that’s left now.

He still attempts to remove and salvage some buds with bud rot by doing hydrogen peroxide. It is a tedious process but he still believes it is all for the better.

DaGoose’s Unprecedented Disaster

As what was stated previously, there are a lot of factors that would likely affect an outdoor grow. Sadly, this time, DaGoose’s plants are affected in a negative light. This could serve as an ultimate lesson, not only for DaGoose but other growers as well.

1. Keep the uncontrollable factors in mind. Before, during, and after planting always bear these factors in mind. They may arise at any time so it is best to be prepared whenever they show. Research on what is most present in the area.

2. Be prepared. Keep insecticides at hand just in case. Also, do not get discouraged in case of losses. It is all part of the growing journey.

3. Weather conditions matter. As what happened to DaGoose, weather conditions affect the plant's future greatly.
