Today we are going to be talking about cannabis tinctures, specifically why they are awesome and quickly becoming one of my favorite methods of cannabis consumption. There are lots of benefits to using cannabis tinctures. They provide something for everyone, regardless if you are a regular smoker and are looking for a new consumption method, or are canna-curious and not into the idea of smoking your reefer.
Healthier than Straight Smoking it
Everyone who uses cannabis loves smoking weed, right? That’s not necessarily the case. Not all who indulge do it the traditional way aka “combustion”. Sometimes it's for health reasons, others find smoking to be too harsh for them. Tinctures provide cannabis users with a much healthier alternative to smoking. This is because the cannabinoids are absorbed through the skin, tongue, etc., rather than into the lungs.
They Kick in Quickly
Tinctures kick in very quickly, especially when compared to edibles. If you don’t have time to wait for an edible to kick in, or you don’t want to be caught off guard when it kicks in, tinctures are the way to go. This is great news for people who use cannabis for treating chronic pain. They get the instant relief they're looking for and are able to continue with daily activities.
Tinctures Make it Easy to go Incognito
Tinctures provide a much more unobtrusive method of cannabis consumption than smoking a joint, or even a vape. Though cannabis is legal in increasing areas of the world, public consumption is still illegal. It’s incredibly risky to light up a joint or a one hitter on a street corner. Vapes aren’t foolproof either. They still emit a distinct odor and the cloud of vapor can easily be mistaken for cannabis smoke. Tinctures on the other hand, can be taken in the middle of the sidewalk in broad daylight. There are so many different types of herbal tinctures around no one is going to look twice at you putting a couple drops under your tongue.
They’re so Easy to Make
Tinctures are so easy to make even a stoner can do it (kidding of course!). All you need is about an ounce of good shake (kief and/or hash work really well too) and some clear alcohol like vodka or everclear. Then you decarboxylate it (more on that later), add your alcohol and let it sit for a few weeks. The longer you let it sit, the more potent it is!
...and Easy to Hide
They are also a lot easier to hide from people than paraphernalia and of course the grass itself. There are lots of places you can hide your stuff, but there’s always the danger of your paraphernalia being discovered by nosey roommates, or an unsuspecting family member. With tinctures, you can just hide them in the back of your medicine cabinet among the vitamins you swore you were going to start taking.
