Information about iPower Mylar Hydroponic Grow Tent:
iPower is one of the bigger manufacturers in China. While there is an impression that anything made in China is of poor quality, that is not always true. As a matter of fact, some of you could be using an iPhone of iPad while reading this post. Guess what? They are also made in China.
Another impression is that Chinese manufacturers do not innovate, they simply infringe on copyrights and produce duplicates, cheap duplicates with inferior qualities. While this is true, there are also other companies who not only produce high-quality products but also innovate on the design and styles. Such is the case with iPower hydroponic grow tents.
For instance, it has a different way of assembling the tent over the frame, which will be covered in another section.
Perhaps there is no greater time than today to invest in grow tents. Remember what it was like in the past decades when the only way to have a proper indoor setup was to build one yourself, and that is not the only problem. The best grow lights that could really sustain your plants were not even available on the market.
Nowadays, with so many manufacturers, distributors, and sellers, prices have come down. Rather than building something yourself, you are not forced to build one because the few ones available were so expensive. In more ways than one, even the cheaper grow tents are most likely to be better than what you could build yourself.
But iPower hydroponic grow tent is not that cheap when compared to mainstream indoor growing tents, is it? So, the question is, what justifies their pricing that they should be one of the best-selling grow tents in online stores?

- 48” x 48” x 80”

- 96” x 48” x 80”
- iPower 5mm 3-ply vinyl grow tent
- Removable Velcro floor tray
- Zinc plated steel and metal internal gears including hooks and rope
- Instructional pamphlet
Note: iPower has a nice hook system which the company says can hold a lot of weight. For instance, a 1/8” pair has a capacity of 150 pounds, while a pair of 1/4″ has an astounding capacity of 300 pounds.
Even so, keep in mind that wear and tear can degrade not only the rope itself but where the hook is attached to. For that reason, it is best to use higher load capacity hook/rope for lesser loads.
FRAME. No matter how good the tent material is, it will not matter if the frame is not sturdy. To make sure that the structure is fundamentally sound, iPower use metal tubing with steel push-lock corners. Using metal-push-lock corners means that assembly is as easy as inserting the tubes and it locks into place. Pushing on the locks release the tube during disassembly. The framing is designed to handle 90 pounds of weight.
TENT. Here, iPower deviates from the others by choosing to use a 3-ply material made of vinyl that is 5mm thick. From the looks of it, this is one of the sturdiest material you could ever find. The interior has a reflective capacity of 95%, which is up to par with the best-known brands in the market.
LIGHT-LEAK. There is never going to be a tent that is completely light-leak free. But manufacturers could minimize that, such as using double stitching, as iPower did with their hydroponic grow tents.
WARRANTY. Quality comes with a certain level of confidence; hence the company is offering a 1-year warranty on its products.
Does it Measure Up to Expectations
Assembling the tent proved to be easy. The metal corners with push-locks mean there is no need to use tools. Even with sturdy poles that could withstand hundreds of pounds of pressure, its connection to the others will always be the weakest link.
As some have expressed concern over the durability of engineered plastic corners, the company opted to use metal. About the only thing, you need to watch out for BEFORE assembling, is to inspect the welding of the metal corners. If in case it does not appear to be welded properly, the company will be happy to assist you in getting replacement parts.
Once the frame is assembled, this is where iPower distinguishes itself. For larger sized tents, putting the tent over the frame is usually a two-person job. But in the case of iPower, they do it differently.
Rather than placing the whole tent on top and pulling them down over the frame, you unzip the tent and lay the bottom part under the frame. Lift one side up and over the frame, before folding the back side to the other side, and zip it up. The instruction pamphlet is clear enough to understand.
One other unique offering is that you could use Velcro to cover the vents. Other than this, everything else that you could expect from an indoor grow tent is pretty much standard.
Again, while the features are standard, the way it was designed and the choice of materials used makes this indoor growing tent an attractive choice. In fact, it is more than attractive enough that it has become one of the bestsellers in the biggest online stores in the world.
