Forget Kali, the Hindu Goddess of time, death, and doomsday. Our strain here is nothing like that. Rather, it is one that is known to give you a relaxing high while boosting your energy, although there are times when the head high could border on psychedelic.

Kali Mist, bred by Serious Seeds in 1993, is one of the top cannabis strains in the world and as a tribute to how great this strain is, it has won multiple awards:

First place in the 1995 Hydro Cup
First place in Sativa at the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup
First place in 2000 Seed Company Sativa Cup
Third place in Sativa at the 2002 High Times Cannabis Cup

The thing that makes Kali Mist a world’s favorite is that it is easy for the users, and perfect for the both beginners and first-time smokers. Although it has been tested to have a high THC of 26%, the average level is much lower at around 14% to 16%. This strain is recommended for daytime, especially early in the morning, as it brings a wonderful feeling full of energy while putting a smile on your face.

Unfortunately, no matter how popular Kali Mist is, no one knows it’s true origin. What is widely accepted is that it is a cross between two Sativa-dominant hybrids, perhaps from Colombian, Thai, and Cambodian Sativa, and Afghani Indica.

Most users recommend using Kali Mist in the morning. Because it calms the mind, some people actually recommend it for those who are into arts, and that is because of its ability to induce creative thoughts. The cerebral high it brings is not the kind that sends you rocking, but more on clearing your mind and helping you focus, which is why it is also recommended for meditation and yoga.

A good way to describe Kali Mist is that it helps you set the tone for the day when you use it in the morning. Clarity and focus, energetic, and overall good feeling.

Kali Mist has a strong odor that some people might find a little too overpowering, but not in a bad way. Most would agree that its herbal and earthy smell blends quite well with the slightly sweet fruity smell of pine.

Kali Mist has a distinctive taste in which it tastes both sweet and spicy at the same time. It has a lingering aftertaste of citrus and an earthy or herbal undertone during exhalation. In all likelihood, you would find the taste pleasant, as countless others think so.

Adverse Reaction

Using cannabis for medical or recreational purposes should always be within limits. There are no guidelines on how much you could consume, but a good start is to know your tolerance. Once you smoke a little too much, the adverse reactions become more evident. For instance, Kali Mist can be psychedelic, which means that inexperienced users may start to feel anxious or paranoid.

Other reactions such as dry mouth and dry eyes are typical when smoking cannabis, so that is something you just have to get used to. Of course, keeping yourself hydrated helps minimize these reactions.

Feeling tired or lacking in energy? Unlike other strains that cause you to feel lethargic and lazy, Kali Mist actually boosts your energy. It is also used to treat or manage certain medical conditions. Immediately, the benefit of mood-enhancing cannabis is that it helps you deal with stress, chronic depression, and other anxiety disorders.

At some point, you might also feel hungry. Kali Mist helps in promoting better appetite for those who are suffering from lack of appetite, bulimia or anorexia. As for dealing with pains and aches, this is not the strain for you, though.

Kali Mist can be grown indoor or outdoor, but it is more suitable when grown inside your house, especially if you have the proper equipment and needed space. Rather than bushy, it has more of a branching growth with fewer leaves but having more large buds.

Flowering Time

Indoor, Kali Mist will grow to around 4 feet tall. It grows well using the Screen of Green (ScrOG) method, as well as using the Low-Stress Training (LST) method. It takes long than most other strains to flower which is could be up to 12 weeks. But it does give a good size yield of 11 to 18 ounces per square meter.

When grown outdoor, this plant could grow up to 10 feet tall. And that means there is more work to do in trimming, pruning, and caring for it. Because of its long flowering time, you will need to account for the harvest time, which is around November, and make sure that the climate would be warm and sunny. By harvest time, the expected yield of Kali Mist is around 25 ounces or more per plant.
