5 Misconceptions About Women Who Smoke Weed

Cannabis is more popular than ever with women. As such, it is time to talk about some of the most common myths about women who smoke weed.

We Don’t Smoke Cannabis

Probably the biggest misconception about women who smoke weed is that we don’t smoke weed. When you think of a group of women getting together, what do you picture in front of them? You probably pictured them each with a glass of wine, or a Cosmo, or some other kind of alcoholic beverage, right? You wouldn’t be wrong; the billion dollar wine industry is probably a billion dollar industry because of women.

When people picture an archetypical stoner, they are probably picturing a dude in a faded tie-dyed t-shirt, hemp jewelry, and Birkenstocks. The operative word here is dude. The truth is that women love weed. A recent study showed that one in three cannabis users are female, averaging at about 33%. So, yeah it’s time to put that myth to rest.

    We’re All Crunchy Hippie Types

Not that there’s anything wrong with being a hippie, but hippie women are not the only women who smoke weed. Stoner women come in all types. We’re punk rockers, we’re avant-garde artists. We’re sorority girls. We’re career women. Many of us, the only thing we have in common is a love of cannabis. This plant attracts a lot of diverse people.

    We’re All Lightweights

People often think that women who smoke weed are lightweights because, well, we’re women. We can build tolerances just like anyone else. I know that I can smoke many of my guy friends under the table simply because I smoke pretty much all the time. Cannabis also affects women differently than men. Men tend to feel the effects of cannabis more strongly than women do. This means that women are less likely to feel paranoid, which is good. This also means that women need to smoke more than men to get the same results.

    We’re All Unemployed and Unmotivated

When people think of women who smoke weed(or really anyone who smokes), they are probably not picturing a person with a successful career. They are more likely to think that we are unemployed or working a minimum wage job at McDonald’s.

The truth is that there are some very successful women who enjoy cannabis. There are also some very devoted mothers who enjoy puffing from a pipe every so often. Some of us find that cannabis helps us focus on our work. I know from experience that a couple puffs off my vape will cure my writer’s block with the quickness.

    We Only Date Fellow Stoners

Sure female stoners love dating other stoners, but these are not the only people that we date. We’re actually quite accepting of people, including people who don’t smoke. My boyfriend rarely smokes weed, which is fine with me. It means that I rarely run dry. We don’t care if our romantic partners don’t smoke weed. All we ask is that you don’t judge us.

      1. Loved your article. I happen to be a successful accountant who has smoked weed ever since my college days. I am mystified why men think women don’t need that extra hit because we are “women”, when in fact you were correct in saying that women need a bit more to get the same feeling as men do. Maybe because we store fat differently? I would like to see more articles about women and weed in the corporate world. We’re not as rare as some may think.
