We all know about the munchies; they are an inevitable side effect of smoking weed, in particular strains like Pineapple Kush or Purple Urple. Sometimes they are a rather unwelcome side effect. When I get the munchies I am likely to eat an entire pound of gummy worms. What if there was a way to enhance your high while satisfying your munchies? You’re in luck! There are some foods you can eat that will actually make you feel higher.
Mango is one of the most effective foods that will enhance your high. This is why eating mangoes has become a meme inside the stoner community. The reason why is pretty fascinating, actually. This is because mangoes contain the terpene myrcene, which is coincidentally found in cannabis. Haven’t you ever wondered why mangoes have that delightful fragrance. Mango will not only enhance your high by making it more intense, it will also make it last longer.
Turmeric is a wonderful spice that generally is used in curries and other types of Indian cooking. It not only helps with inflammation, it will also enhance your high. This is because the active ingredient curcumin works partially as an antidepressant, bringing on the same euphoric feeling as smoking a bowl of Green Crack.
I used to despise dark chocolate. It wasn’t until I started smoking weed all the time that I began to like it. Now I loooove dark chocolate. One of the reasons why is because it enhances your high. As you’re probably aware, dark chocolate is made from cacao, which triggers the neurotransmitter anandamide, aka the bliss chemical. Why did you think many edibles are made from chocolate anyway?
Another one of my favorite foods, sweet potatoes contain tons of B vitamins and E vitamins, which help stimulate serotonin production in the brain. Serotonin is another one of those feel good chemicals that help with depression. If you tend to feel a little down after smoking, then I would definitely recommend munching on some sweet potatoes!
Eat Some Nuts!
For an extra boost that will enhance your high, you can also eat some nuts. Nuts not only contain omega-3 fatty acids that are beneficial for the heart, they also interact with the cannabinoids in your brain, which naturally enhance your high. Nuts are also delicious and make fantastic munchie food. Did I mention that they are a lot healthier than your average munchie fare, like candy or chips? Next time you get the munchies, try eating a handful of mixed nuts instead. Your heart will thank you!
Other Things You Can Do
There are other things you can do besides eating that will enhance your high. As much as you probably don’t want to hear it, exercising will be a lot more effective than hanging out on the couch all day. After smoking up, try doing some medium to heavy cardio. It’s good for you!
