PAR Pro 1100 Watt Hyper Arc HPS Lamp:
The PAR Pro 1100 Watt Hyper Arc HPS Lamp creates a 2,380 µmol on the galaxy 1000-watt turbo setting. Its unique construction exceeds the micromole levels of than other HPS or high-pressure sodium lamps and it operates at 2000° Kelvin temperature to maximize the bud’s flowering potentials.
These HPS bulbs are flexible enough to be positioned at any angle without bending the arc tube, unlike standard MH or metal halide bulbs. This is why there’s no specific designation among HPS lamps for vertical, horizontal or universal, as there is with MH lamps.
PAR Pro 1100 Watt Hyper Arc HPS Lamp
The hyper arc is a 1,100 watt grow lamp that features a TT65 European glass jacket that generates 177,000 lumens and a 400-volt arc tube. The PAR Pro 1100 Watt Hyper Arc HPS Lamp is an excellent choice for indoor grow operations with its attributes of reliability, long life and high efficacy of over 150 LPW.
This lamp requires a high-frequency, 70-110kHz, electronic ballasts to operate. It is one of the most powerful single-ended grow lamps in the market today, sold for $75.38 at Growers House.
Par Pro’s cutting-edge design makes it possible to produce such power in a single-ended (SE) bulb E39 is indeed a remarkable breakthrough in horticultural lighting technology. This is particularly beneficial for growers utilizing SE reflectors. Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) confirmed this lamp’s power, with the tests consistently resulting in 2,380 µmol (micromole).
PBAR or Plant Biologically Active Radiation is measured from 350 to 800 nm in the light spectrum. This value is used to recognize the plant’s other photopigments aside from chlorophyll that is much more sensitive to a wider range of wavelengths. The Par Pro Hyper Arc’s PBAR Flux is even more incredible at 2,688 µmol.
In terms of Luminous Flux, which represents the radiant power of the test lamp measured in units of lumens from 380 to 780 nanometers, this lamp gives 177,900 Lumens.
Also, its PPF is 2,380 μmol per second. PPF refers to Photosynthesis Photon Flux and it has been identified as vital to the photosynthesis process. Its particular wavelength ranges from 400 to 700 nanometers.
- HPS is more electrically efficient compared to MH, to about twice as much.
- Delivery of useable Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) is better with HPS than metal halide. This is a key factor to plant growth.
- during the vegetative stage, the enhanced blue in MH does not lead to increased plant growth compared to HPS.
- HPS bulbs produce, on average, about 130,000 to155,000 lumens per standard 1,000-watt bulb. For the same wattage, Metal halides deliver about 80,000-110,000 lumens. When trying to maximize plant growth indoors under electric light, HPS’ higher light output far outweighs other considerations.
In choosing an HPS bulb, the most important consideration is the wattage because it is the determining factor of the size of the area that can be lighted up. Assuming the plants will get no actual sunlight, 1000 to 1100-watt light can cover around 7 x 7 feet of grow area. A 600 watt can cover 6 x 6 feet, a 400 can cover 4 x 4 feet, a 250 can cover 3 x 3 feet and a 150 can cover 2 x 2 feet.
This chart shows the optimal distances to set the reflector and the recommended area coverage.
Coverage Area: 1.2 x 1.2 meter (4’’ x 4” inches) up to 1.5 x 1.5 meter (5” x 5” inches).
Ideal Distance from Plants: 21 inches (53cm) or more away from tops of plants.
1100 Watt HPS
1000 watt is the biggest standard HID grow light size. Extremely powerful, a 1000 to 1100 watt grow lights can also get very hot. In order to prevent heat stress problems which can adversely affect the plants, reflector must be air-cooled and/or installed on a light mover when positioning at the recommended distances. Likewise, it is important to set up an exhaust setup or some other way to control temperature.
Higher wattage lights will cost more to operate; an estimate operating cost can be obtained using cost calculators available online.
