So you think that the Trump administration has formed a group to advise them on the marijuana policy? Well, you are misinformed. We know this news was all over the media a few days ago but that was all bad journalism. Let us correct you here; the Trump administration has not named the National DA Association to advise them on the marijuana policy.
So what was all the fuss about?
Good question. The reality was that the National DA Association released the information to the public via their website and other mediums that they will be presenting the policy paper to the Trump administration, advising them on the marijuana policy. Some people misinterpreted it and thought that the Trump administration has appointed the National DA Association but in reality, they have self-appointed themselves and consider that their policy paper and recommendations would make an impact.
So will the White House review the policy paper?
Short answer: It depends on their mood.
Long answer: If you believe that you can advise the president-elect on the economic issues, then you too, are free to give your policy paper and recommendations to the White House. However, the White House does not have any responsibility or duty to review those recommendations.
So why is the National DA Association wasting their time?
You may think so, but they believe that in order to help the president and its administration in making a correct decision, they should help him. The National DA Association told the people that they considered it important because the marijuana policy was not the priority of the Obama Administration, but the Trump administration has sent mixed signals. Also, they consider their advice to be important because Cannabis has become a huge business industry in some states and is popular among people. Crime rates have also not increased after the legalization of marijuana in some states.
The National DA Association will state all these points clearly in the policy paper so that the Trump administration do not decide out of the blue to repeal the bill of the legalization of marijuana. After all, Trump has already said during his campaign that “good people do not smoke Marijuana”.
Some people thought that this Association was affiliated to some other organization that is encouraging them to prepare the policy paper but we have verified and found out that it’s not the case. Being a Good Samaritan, we should appreciate the step taken by the National DA Association in order to make their voice heard in the White House and to protect our rights of smoking pot without the fear of ending up behind bars.
Stay tuned to find out how this story will unfold and where this self-appointed association will end.
