Cannabis breeders have their own individual goals in mind when breeding different strains. Some are aiming for higher CBD contents while others prefer their strains to lean more towards their THC concentrations. Either way, these strains are easily recognized for their respective qualities.

THC is known to be the property found in cannabis that is responsible for the plant’s psychoactive effects. The higher the THC level of a strain, the powerful its “high” will be. That being said, such strains are especially appealing to seasoned users who enjoy strong THC effects and perhaps novice users who are confident enough about their tolerance to these effects.

Now, imagine a strain that does not only boast of high levels of THC but is also complemented by some delightful flavors and aroma. Surely, that takes the entire experiences of smoking weed to the next level.

DNA Genetics and Serious Seeds have come up with a unique strain that is specially bred not only for its high THC content but also for the sweet and tropical flavors it emits. They named the strain Strawberry Banana and it definitely is a relatively close replica of everyone’s favorite smoothie of the same name.

Strawberry Banana is a cross between Crockett’s Banana Kush and the strawberry phenotype of Serious Seeds’ Bubble Gum strain. The strain was originally bred by DNA Genetics in collaboration with Serious Seeds. It is now very popular on the US West Coast market.

The name Strawberry Banana is simply to give more emphasis on the strains notable flavors and aroma.

As the Indica effects of the strain slowly kick in, users will feel a sense of deep relaxation manifested by a full body relief that can have a slightly sedating effect. That being said, some users may actually find themselves feeling sleepy or locked on the couch for the next few hours.

Due to the delayed tranquilizing effect of Strawberry Banana, it should be ideally used during the night.

Strawberry Banana’s aroma is a delightful combination of earthy, sweet and tropical strawberry scents, making the strain one of the most fragrant varieties available.

As pleasant as its aroma, Strawberry Banana’s flavors also lives up to its name. With a taste that can be likened to the flavors of tropical strawberries and a more prominent banana flavor upon exhale, Strawberry Banana is a tasty treat for both seasoned users and novice users with high tolerance to THC.

Adverse reactions

Just like any type of cannabis variety, users may also experience some side-effects from smoking Strawberry Banana.

The most commonly reported case is having dry mouth which may also be accompanied by signs of dry eyes. Other mild cases may involve paranoia and anxiety.

The Strawberry Banana strain has a relatively low CBD content. Nonetheless, it still offers some level of relief to various types of health conditions.

For one, its uplifting Sativa effects may provide temporary relief to users dealing with stress and depression. At the same time, the strain’s ability to improve a user’s sense of focus and sensory awareness may aid patients with ADHD.

The powerful and relaxing body buzz of the strain, however, is more likely to benefit users who are experiencing chronic pain, insomnia and even the lack of appetite.

One good news for prospective growers is that Strawberry Banana can be grown either indoor or outdoor. At the same time, it does not require any experience in growing cannabis which makes the strain a perfect choice for first-time growers who wish to cultivate the strain on their own.

However, to anyone who is thinking of doing an outdoor cultivation, note that the plant can thrive only in a Mediterranean climate. The ideal conditions usually involve a humid day with temperatures that fall within the 70-degree Fahrenheit range.

There is also a particular growing technique that some growers should try in order to bring out the purple hue of the strain’s leaves. It involves artificially shocking the plants by exposing them to cold temperatures during the night. This technique may work best when the plant is grown indoor within a more controlled environment.

After harvest, it is recommended to cure the yields by hanging the buds upside down for about a week and letting them dry under a 50% humidity and 70 degrees Fahrenheit conditions. After so, the buds should then be sealed in jars and this time under a 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 60-65% humidity conditions.

Flowering Time

If a grower chooses to cultivate Strawberry Banana strains indoor, the expected flowering time should take 60 to 70 days. This should produce an abundant yield of about 15 to 19 ounces per square meter.

Given that the strain is cultivated in an ideal outdoor condition, they should be ready for harvest by early to mid-October with total outdoor yield can reach up to an astounding 23 ounces or more per plant.
