Thai Girl has been around the industry since the 1970s. It has a loyal following comprised of enthusiasts with a penchant for a flavor that lure the senses and psychoactive effects which last for hours. All of which, the Sativa-leaning bud delivers.
Its aroma is enticing and its smoke bursts with the tropical fusion that bursts in the palate with a swig. It is quite potent too. Boasting THC levels of 18% to 25%, it delivers a quick-acting head high that immediately clears the mind and inspires an innate sense of happiness. The herb also removes fatigue so driven users can engage in light physical tasks.
In developing the strain, Gold King used two landrace derivatives. One is Tres Dawg, an elusive Indica-leaning bud that hails from Afghani #1. The other one, on the other hand, are Thai Sticks which is a name used to refer to indigenous varieties in Thailand.

A gentle rush of euphoria that leaves users feeling happy characterizes Thai Girl’s onset. But, more than just an upbeat disposition, it has the capacity to clear the mind of worries and self-depreciating thoughts. In its place, the bud plants a continuous rush of energy that lasts throughout the day.
Impressive for wake and bake sessions, the mental clarity allows users to stay alert and on top of things. Its ability to create space also improves the ebb and flows of thoughts to turn into ideas. With fresher perspectives and an open mind, users feel more inclined to finish off goals for the day.
Gradually, a tingling sensation trickles down from the back of the neck. It plants itself in the limbs, releasing tension as it travels to the body extremities. Kneading the muscles into mush, a light physical relaxation takes over to soothe a wide variety of aches and pains.
Thai Girl is best used in the morning. It invigorates the mind and motivates users to crash off tasks on one’s To-Do list. Be careful of overconsuming the strain though; its bodily effects can turn equally as intense and will lock users to the couch until drowsiness takes over.

Thai Girl has a sweet and sour citric profile that entices users to light up its buds. Upon combustion, it exudes a more tropical vibe with a stronger hint of skunk.
It is common for the mouth to water because of Thai Girl’s citric and skunk flavors. The sourness could also irritate one’s throat resulting in coughing. On the exhale, its sweeter and more tropical flavors emerge.
Apart from the usual dry eyes and a cottonmouth, it is possible for users to experience dizziness and anxiety. It is rare and, if any, Thai Girl mostly induces a mild headache that disappears after a few hours. Moderation, however, will keep the experience pleasant.

Thai Girl is a plant that loves the outdoors. It thrives well in a Mediterranean climate, where the days are long and it is almost always sunny. Under the nutrient-rich sunlight, it grows vigorously big. This is not to say that it will not perform well in the northern hemisphere. In fact, it performs equally well so long as it is hampered by harsh weather conditions such as strong winds, heavy rains, and frost. Although, one should remember to sow it in an area that is free of obstructions but hidden from pests and nosey neighbors.
This is not to say that it does not perform well indoors. In fact, a controllable environment offers a chance at quick adjustments to deciding factors like temperature, lighting, and humidity. Switching to a high-intensity light source of at least 600 watts will greatly improve bud production. Meanwhile, installing a proficient ventilation system will reduce moisture in the air as well as improve light circulation.
Advanced growing techniques will bring out its full potential. It keeps the plant short by encouraging lateral growth, weaving the branches into a net situated above the canopy. Through this mechanism, it is able to bring out the main colas to the top so it receives more sunlight. Pairing it with a method called Topping, which removes the top colas, will create more budding sites so that a hefty yield awaits growers at harvest.
Thai Girl has a flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks. At the chop down, growers can expect between 12 to 16 ounces of buds per square meter.
Although it performs best in a dry and sunny climate, Thai Girl can still perform well in the balmy weather of the northern hemisphere. Maturing from the second to the fourth week of October, earlier than most Sativa strains, it yields at least 16 ounces of buds per plant.
