TJ’s CBD is no ordinary medical cannabis plant. Its almost completely devoid of THC but contains outstanding CBD levels that range between 13% to 18%. Partly because of this, it took home two awards – Best CBD during 2014 Dope Cup and Best High-CBD Flower at the 2015 Oregon DOPE Cup.
Information about TJ’s CBD:
The Washington-born hybrid delivers a totally clearheaded high. It instills a sense of relaxation accompanied by a tranquilizing buzz that relieves pain and stress. Its immense therapeutic qualities have worked well with managing seizure related disorders.
Sadly, its lineage remains a mystery as TJ’s Organic Garden only received a clone of the strain as a gift. Still, its high trichome production is well received. It is currently the ‘backbone flower’ for many of TJ’s CBD oils.

TJ’s CBD’s psychoactive effects are almost unnoticeable due to its extremely low levels of 1%. It leaves users feeling happy from within while simultaneously inspiring a confidence that allows users to socialize better.
The well-balanced bud is ideal for casual users who have work ahead of them. This is because it enhances focus. And, by doing so, it enhances productivity.
Gradually, the bud’s soothing body effects intensify. It eases the muscles from the temples down to the tips of the toes until users are enveloped in total relaxation. Most likely, users will feel lighter and invigorated.
TJ’s CBD has a distinct skunky smell because of its high CBD levels. Adding to its appeal is the scent of sweet wildflowers mixed with herbal spices. Breaking the buds apart releases an earthy fragrance that intensifies upon combustion.
TJ’s CBD has a very interesting terpene profile. In the palate, its earthy overtones take center stage backed by a pleasing note of wood. But, when its smooth smoke is savored, a surprising but subtle hint of blueberries is distinguishable. On the exhale, an herbal spiciness lingers in the mouth.
It not uncommon for users to feel slightly dehydrated while using TJ’s CBD. This is because moisture-inhibiting cannabinoids interfere with the production of saliva. Some may also experience dry or red eyes to some degree. Neither are a cause for concern though due to their mildness. Still, those who experience discomfort may find that downing a few glasses of water will instantly hydrate the body.
Although rare, it is important to know that TJ’s CBD can potentially disorient its users especially when consumed outside of one’s limit. Most experience a mild headache but a temporary dizziness is also possible. Pacing, however, will keep such effects at bay.
As a medical grade strain, TJ’s CBD has obvious therapeutic qualities. Its wicked CBD levels provide comfort to patients with either mental or physical afflictions.
A prime example of which is epilepsy, a disorder characterized by seizures or loss of consciousness due to a disruption in the central nervous system. High CBD strains have been proven to contain anti-spasmodic properties. While in no way a cure, TJ’s CBD temporarily keeps muscles from suddenly contracting through its tranquilizing high. By doing so, it effectively reduces the number of episodes patients suffer from. The same analgesic qualities ease other types of pains in various parts of the body such as headaches as well.
According to Washington State University, high CBD strains with low THC values are most effective against behavioral disorders. In inducing a calming cerebral high, TJ’s CBD appeases the overwhelming dread that usually comes with stress which can lead to the early onset of depression if left unattended. For this reason, the well-balanced hybrid works great for mental health conditions like PTSD.

Growing TJ Strain
TJ’s Organic Garden believes in sustainable growing environments and prides itself in its practices, particularly its use of live soil. Thus, it should come as no surprise that TJ’s CBD thrives well in gardens and farms where each is exposed to natural sunlight and the medium is innately rich in nutrients. Breeders may also add in organic fertilizers.
In spite of its great performance outdoors, many still prefer cultivating their batch indoors. Apart from added protection against pests, important factors such as lighting, temperature, and humidity can easily be adjusted to suit the plant’s current phase. Growers may need to watch out for the hybrid’s stalks as it can sometimes grow too tall for its space. In such cases, it is best to shorten the vegetative period or top the plant early so its height is managed.
A bushy plant, TJ’s CBD necessitates constant pruning. Cutting away dead parts of the plant helps distribute nutrients to healthier budding sites. At the same time, trimming helps light and air circulate better in lower parts. A soilless medium like hydroponics as well as growing techniques like the Sea of Green hastens the flowering period while encouraging better yields.
Once mature, the herb produces frosty flowers that sometimes tricks growers as it gives the illusion of a potent strain. One thing though, TJ’s CBD has a strong, pungent aroma. A single plant can fill leave one’s whole space smelling like cannabis. Moreover, it may attract unwanted attention. For this reason, it is important to install carbon filters or other types of odor control systems around the room.
Sadly, as a commercial medical strain, TJ’s CBD is not available for sale. TJ’s Organic Garden maintains a proprietary hold on its product to keep other growers from selling fake merchandise. This system is also put in place so users are assured of a chemically stable bud straight from the breeder.
It takes approximately 9 weeks for TJ’s CBD to flower. It produces 12 to 14 ounces of buds per square meter once ready for harvest. In the hands of an expert grower, it blossoms faster and yields higher.
In the northern hemisphere, TJ’s CBD typically blooms from the second to third week of October but can sometimes extend up to a week depending on the grower. Once mature, it yields at least 14 ounces of buds per plant.
