We’ve talked before about how to calm yourself down when you’ve gotten too high. What if you want just the opposite. Getting high is awesome in and of itself, but I think we can all agree that we want a better buzz. Sometimes that’s just not possible, either because you’ve got an abnormally high tolerance, or you’re running low on the green. Don’t fear, there are ways that you can enhance your high without depleting your stash.
Take Fish Oils
Fish oils are a great way to get a better buzz. This is because they contain fatty acids called Omega-3s. Omega-3s help the endocannabinoid system in your body function and as such they help you feel the full effects of the cannabis plant, both psychoactive and medicinally. You can take Omega-3s in supplemental form by taking fish oils, such as cod liver oil.
If taking supplements isn’t your thing, you can eat foods that are rich in Omega-3s, namely fish, eggs, avocadoes, nuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, and last but not least, hemp seeds!
Eat Some Mangoes
Mangoes are rich in the terpene myrcene, which is what gives them that citrusy, sweet smell. Myrcene is a terpene that is also present in cannabis and is, you guessed it, responsible for giving some strains a citrusy sweet aroma. It’s also the terpene that determines whether a specific strain will make you feel sleepy or not. This is why it’s often referred to as the couchlock strain.
You can also try Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate is an old trick (hey where do you think pot brownies came from) that has been used for decades. This is because chocolate, dark chocolate in particular, contains a large amount of cacao. Cacao helps anandamide, aka the brain’s bliss chemical, last longer, thus making your high last longer, giving you a better buzz. Why do you think you get so much pleasure from eating chocolate?
Eating edibles is a guaranteed way to give you an all around better buzz. They take a longer time to kick in, but the high lasts way longer because you have to digest your THC first. If you find that smoking it is just not doing it for you anymore, you should definitely switch to edibles. If you’re taking cannabis medicinally, then you should absolutely be doing it in edible form in order to see the full effects.
Do Some Cardio
Cardio has been proven to enhance the effects of cannabis. Why do you think Arnold Schwarzenegger was so big on smoking joints back in his bodybuilding days? A study published in the Journal of Drug and Alcohol Dependence a few years ago showed this to be true. Next time you’re planning on working out, try taking a one hitter along with you on your run. You’ll be pleased with the results.
Switch to Concentrates
Of course, you can always switch to concentrates, which have a much higher THC content than dried flower. If you’re feeling a little bored with smoking and want to get a better buzz, just try taking some dabs for a week. You are guaranteed to see a huge difference in your high.
Take a Tolerance Break
You may not want to, but sometimes taking a tolerance break is the best option out there. It’s not so bad. I’m on one right now and I’m doing just fine. I know that when I choose to start smoking again this weekend that I’m going to have a better buzz than I’ve had in months. This makes it worth it.
