OG Kush is a popular strain. Both its psychedelic effects and flavors are distinguishable. Moreover, it is quite potent. Over time, it has become a household bud. And, today, its name alone is enough to excite and entice enthusiasts from all over the world.
Information about Earthshaker OG:
As the backbone for most of the West Coast varieties, OG Kush is a popular breeding strain. In fact, many growers cultivate the legend to create new hybrids. At times, an offshoot grows from the original and is unique enough to stand on its own. This is exactly the case of Earthshaker OG.
While growing OG Kush, Progressive Options Genetics noticed a completely distinct variety from its batch. Unlike its Indica leaning parent, Earthshaker OG flowered late and came out predominantly Sativa. Its medical effects, too, are exceptional.
But, what makes Earthshaker OG totally different from OG Kush is its fragrance and flavor. Instead of the domineering citric overtones, it is cheesy with undertones of skunk.

Earthshaker OG carries anywhere from 17% to 19% THC. While this is significantly lower than some of the most potent strains, it is significant enough to topple even the most seasoned of users. This is not to say beginners should stay away from smoking the bud. Rather, consumption should be moderated or, at least, paced.
The initial onset is rather interesting. There is, of course, the presence of a Sativa’s euphoric rush. But, there is also a soothing sensation that is typical of Indicas. Though subtle, it is quite notable and enhances the overall psychedelic high.
Gradually, though, the cerebral effects overpower everything else. As it swarms the mind, it uplifts tired souls and enhances the mood. It leaves users feeling content and happy from within.
From the temples, the once mild tingling buzz courses through the muscles. And, true to its OG Kush heritage, Earthshaker OG has powerful body effects. A heaviness sets in each and every limb until it envelops the user in deep relaxation.
In all likelihood, the sedating effects will leave users drowsy. For most, at least. To some, the freedom from tension and negativity is freeing and arousing. A natural aphrodisiac, the hybrid is wonderful joint to toke before bedtime with a special someone.
Drawn in, overtones of cheese enhanced by subtle hints of lemon and citrus wash over the palate. While it may not sound appealing, the unusual blend is quite sweet and tangy. On the exhale, it leaves an aftertaste of skunk.
Regardless of the strain or the amount toked, marijuana use will always lead to mild dehydration. Preferably, one should hydrate with water before and after a session. This is because cannabinoids inhibit moisture in the eyes and the mouth.
When smoked too quick or too much, the body-slamming buzz can disorient and cause a bout of momentary dizziness. While this can also be due to individual tolerance, it is best to pace and moderate consumption.
Progressive Options Genetics is a collective that caters to medical cannabis community from California. As such, it is not surprising for Earthshaker OG to have value outside of the recreational. Its happy high, for example, is great for relieving symptoms of stress and depression.
But, as a descendant of the Indica-leaning OG Kush, its best use is arguably physical. Its potent analgesic properties manage pain caused by aches and the sting caused by sudden contractions in the muscles. In food-deprived bodies, the soothing buzz soothes the stomach of spasms that usually leads to nausea. In effect, it also brings back the appetite. It can also be used as a natural sleeping aid because of its sedative effects.

Earthshaker OG’s Sativa-leaning structure makes it weaker compared to other strains. Moreover, like OG Kush, it is rather susceptible to mold and mildew. Hence, the bud is not exactly the best choice for first-time growers. It is, however, ideal for green thumbs who wish to hone their skills.
Growing the plant outdoors can be quite the challenge. As alluded to earlier, the plant is not sturdy. Its frail branches and thin stalks are easily affected by changes in weather and moisture in the air. For this reason, commercial breeders prefer cultivating Earthshaker OG inside greenhouses or grow rooms. In this way, they can adjust important factors such as lighting and temperature.
One important issue to address while growing Earthshaker OG indoors is its height. At times, the plant can stretch beyond 7 feet and take up too much space indoors. If space is limited, applying techniques like bending and super cropping will keep the plant short and even encourage better yields.
While its buds are sold all across dispensaries, its seeds are not. Acquiring a clipping from a mature plant is still possible though, especially since Progressive Options Genetics is a ‘Clone-Only collective.’
Earthshaker OG has an indoor flowering period of 10 to 12 weeks. Once it blossoms, each square meter should produce about 12 to 16 ounces of buds. To encourage better yields, growers can opt to apply either the Screen or Sea of Green method.
In a well-aerated garden, Earthshaker OG thrives. By the second to third week of October, it yields more than 16 ounces of buds per plant. But, without much sunlight, the flowering period could extend by a week more. Growers end up waiting for the last week instead.
