Throwback Kush is not exactly a strain from the 1980s or the 1990s. However, it does carry the genes of two of the most widely known old school classics – a special 90s cut of OG Kush and a backcross of Green Ribbon. The latter is a well-balanced hybrid that induces a stimulating head high with great medical benefits. Meanwhile, the former is the backbone of most, if not all, West Coast cannabis. Both were specifically chosen by Exotic Genetix to create a strain that would turn back time.
Information about Throwback Kush:
A single puff of Throwback Kush’s earthy and citric smoke is like a blast from the past. It induces an intense body buzz that only the strains of the past can deliver and, with THC levels averaging between 19% and 23%, it certainly lives up to their standard.

Throwback Kush is quite a laidback strain. Instead of overwhelming the senses with a body slamming effect, it begins with a slow-starting uplifting buzz and starts from there. Often, the enhanced mood leaves users feeling lighter. Some even notice the subtle behavioral change resulting from the happy high.
It is not uncommon to see users getting up to look for food. After all, despite its mellow nature, the mellow head effects are still stimulating to the appetite. However, moving around may be too much of a hassle once the stress-crushing buzz hits. For convenience’s sake, having some snacks nearby will keep movement to a minimum.
In time, a soothing sensation trickles down from the temples. Replacing all tightness in the muscles is a sedating heaviness that plants itself in the limbs until the whole body is enveloped in deep relaxation. In all likelihood, users will sink to their couches and eventually fall asleep without realizing it.
As soon as its amber container is opened, Throwback Kush fills the air with a pungent citric aroma akin to lemons. Accenting it is the refreshing fragrance of pine blended with mild earthy undertones.
Cannabinoids in marijuana always inhibit the production of moisture which, in turn, leaves people feeling a little dehydrated. Most likely, users end up with dry eyes and a cottonmouth. However, both are easily mitigated by having a drink. Not alcohol though as the downer may exacerbate any side effects. In such cases, it is best to down a glass or two of water.
Exotic Genetix prides itself in being one of the best producers of medical marijuana. Each of its strains provide a reprieve against various mental and physical afflictions.
To that end, Throwback Kush does not disappoint. Its THC component works alongside its CBD and other cannabinoids induce a soothing high that appeases pains and aches in the body. Moreover, its ability to relax also leaves users falling fast asleep right as the psychedelic buzz dissipates.
Meanwhile, its pleasant psychoactive effects do more than get people high. For starters, as a stress reliever, it assists with the management of certain mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. The same psychoactive compounds also stimulate the appetite. As such, one of the best times to use the strain is right before a meal.

Throwback Kush inherited the towering height of Sativas. It grows tall and necessitates early topping. Thankfully, it is not at all weak. Its excellent Indica genes have blessed the plant with a sturdy structure that can withstand various problems caused by humidity such as mold and mildew. However, the bushy plant may require constant pruning or trimming to encourage better light and air circulation.
Though its yields are not as massive as that of its Sativa counterparts, its buds are equally impressive. Placed in the palm of one’s hand, its density is obvious in its heavy weight. Moreover, it is completely covered in dripping resin and a sugary dust of trichomes.
Aspiring growers looking to enhance Throwback Kush’s flavors may opt to cultivate their batch in the soil. Although, those who would like to produce a ‘clean’ plant should go for hydroponics.
One thing though, Exotic Genetix seeds are only available in regular form. In all likelihood, breeders will end up with at least half a batch of male plants. However, applying germination techniques like presoaking will encourage more calyx-filled female to grow although there is the option of germinating extra seeds.
Like other Indica-leaning strains, Throwback Kush has a quick flowering period of 8 to 9 weeks. Regardless, it produces an average of 10 to 12 ounces of buds per square meter. Applying the Sea of Green method, however, will shorten the blossoming phase to 7 weeks and encourage even heavier yields.
In the northern hemisphere, Throwback Kush matures by the first to third week of October. Once ready for harvest, it yields more than 12 ounces of buds per plant.
