If there are any fruits that are generally accepted as among the most popular in the world, one of them would orange. Tech icon Steve Jobs could have picked Orange over Apple, and they would have been just as successful, but for the breeders of this strain, the name could not have been any better.

California Orange is an old strain that has already made its mark and one that is quite popular for those who want something that could be used during daytime. The reason for that is because it gives a cerebral high that is not too overwhelming, and at the same time, keep one’s mind clear.

What we know about California Orange is that its origin is pretty much a mystery. The only thing we know is that it originated from California and has the smell and taste of orange, which is how it got its name. This is a balanced hybrid strain that is also known as C.O.B., Cali-O, Cali Orange, and California Orange Bud.

It was a good thing that it found its way to Amsterdam in the early 80s, otherwise it might have been eradicated during the war on drugs campaign during the Reagan administration in the USA.

California Orange is a strain that hits relatively fast, but not in a maddening rush kind of way that overwhelms users, especially novice or beginners. Rather, it brings you to a cerebral head high that almost immediately uplifts your mood. Feeling down or pissed off? This strain can calm you down.

Half an hour or so after the cerebral head high kicked in, you start to a heightened sense of focus and clarity of mind. In other words, California Orange improves your thought process without sending you to dreamland.

Accompanying the head high, its Indica property starts to creep in the body too. The body relaxation and alleviation from physical ailments complements the head high in making you feel relaxed, happy and jolly with a boost in energy level.

This is really a great smelling strain, and is in fact, one of the reasons for its popularity. California Orange has an earthy odor that is complemented well by a sweet citrus smell.

Great smelling, California Orange also taste great. It has a pleasant taste of orange with a fruity and tropical undertone and a lingering sweet aftertaste. Come to think of it, the way its flavor is described, it is as if we were describing the fruit, rather than a cannabis strain. Well, it is that good.

    Adverse reactions

In spite of the benefits California Orange gives, it does come with a couple of adverse reactions that you would just have to get used to. Common with cannabis use is having dry mouth and dry eyes.

Another thing to know about is possibly feeling dizzy at the onset of the cerebral high before calming down and having a clear mind with heightened senses. Possibly, you might also have a mild headache.

For those who are new, the onset of cerebral high might not only cause dizziness but also make one panic. Unlikely, but possible, so the most important thing to remember in the use of cannabis, whether for recreational or medical reasons, is to stay on the conservative side. Smoking too much might negate some of the benefits and cause more trouble than the fun and medical benefits it could have given you.

The medical use of California Orange is more on the mental side. The cerebral high causes you to feel uplifted and elated. This sense of euphoria then makes you feel happy. And that is the reason why you start to let go of stressful thoughts, enabling the physical manifestation relaxation to take place effectively.

A well-balanced strain, its Sativa and Indica side works hand-in-hand to bring you to a state of mental and complete body relaxation. But this one does not lock you on your couch. At any rate, this strain helps you manage stress and anxiety disorder issues.

Because California Orange also boosts the energy level, this strain also helps you deal with fatigue much like drinking a shot of espresso. A possible benefit is its ability to help in alleviation of mild cases of pains.

California Orange can be grown outdoor, but it thrives way much better in an indoor setting. It could grow from 4 to 6 feet tall and has buds with tight and leafy structure. While generally not hard to grow, it does require some work as well as a little stress training throughout its growth.

      Flowering Time

Growing California Orange indoor is the best way to cultivate and in 9 to 10 weeks, have a harvest of around 14 to 18 ounces per square meter. It thrives well using hydroponics and Sea of Green (SOG) method.

Outdoor, it does not thrive as well as when it is grown indoor. Still, the expected yield by the end of October to the early parts of November would still be around 18 ounces or more per plant. It does love to be in a relatively warmer climate similar to the Mediterranean and lots of sun.
