Power Plant Strain

Since its release in 1997, one of the reputable companies in Amsterdam Dutch Passion Seed Company knew it had a hit.

The original Power Plant now has up to more than 10 other variants, but the classic strain remains the best in class.

Consider this: In the 2016 Lift Expo Canada Vancouver, Power Plant won 1st prize for Sativa and 3rd prize for Hash.

Not only that but at the 2016 Prairie Medicinal Harvest Cup Canada, Power Plant was awarded the 2nd prize for Sativa.

Not good enough? How about winning the 2nd place in the 2016 HighLife Cup?

Anyone who has frequented Amsterdam coffee shops should be familiar with Power Plant as it was a much sought-after strain.

Not that it is the most popular strain at any given time, but this Sativa is one of those must-haves.

Although it has a higher CBD than many other strains, Power Plant is more recommended for recreational use.

What it does is to make you feel good and happy. It might also be a good strain in a social gathering as it also makes you more talkative.

While the Power Plant still has some Indica genes, it is mostly a South African Sativa inbred descendant.

Perhaps due to its widespread demand, there are other variants that came out through the years, but the best strain remains the original strain from Dutch Passion.

Power Plant is not for beginners and those with low tolerance. The high THC of this strain induces a cerebral high that uplifts your mood.

As you begin to settle down and relax, you will find yourself becoming more social. This makes it a great strain in social gatherings or even at parties.

Be careful, though, Power Plant also makes you more talkative, and you may want to be sure you do not start telling things you’d like to keep private.

At any rate, Power Plant is very much like an icebreaker. Even the least sociable person in the room becomes best friends with everyone else, once this strain does its magic.

Used in moderation and within your limits, Power Plant also gives you a boost in energy.

But a little too much and it is possible that hallucinations may occur. Again, this is not for beginners.

As its effects fade away, like typical Sativa strains, you may feel like not moving so much or hungry. Depending on the needs, this is a good time to sleep or eat some food.

Power Plant terpenes

The most abundant terpene in this indulgent strain is myrcene, which gives it its earthy scent. The secondary terpenes that make up its rich aromatic profile consist of α-Pinene, caryophyllene, phellandrene, and L-Limonene.

Aroma & Flavor

While some strains have sweet fruity aromas, that is not the case with the Power Plant.

It has that earthy and woody fragrance that seems to be neutral to most people.

What it means is that it is not the best-smelling cannabis, but it is not repulsive in any way at all.

Like how it smells, it does not taste in a spectacular way, but it is not unpleasant either.

Power Plant has a mild pepper spicy taste with a hint of wood.

Dominant terpene:

Myrceneearthy, musky, fruity, clover, hop, pungent

Secondary terpenes:

α-Pinenesharp, turpentine, pine, rosemary
Caryophyllenespicy, cinnamon, clover
Phellandrenemint, lime, citrus, herbal, floral, wood
L-Limonenepine, pungent, turpentine, bitter

Adverse reactions

Once this Sativa brings you to a cerebral high, you can forget about the things that stress you out.

But at the same time, you will also feel your mouth going dry.

Some people and especially novice users may feel a headache. Keeping hydrated with fluids should minimize that.

On some cases too, smokers may also feel dry eyes. Although rare, smoking too much may cause hallucination, which in turn, may lead to dizziness and bouts of mild paranoia.

Power Plant is popular for recreational use. Although it has a higher CBD than the average strain, it is not potent enough to be used for the treatment of seizures.

But it still has more than enough potency to help you deal with stress. As such, it is also beneficial in battling against depression.

Power Plant is great for daytime use by experienced smokers with a high tolerance in social settings. In the evening, it can be used to set up one’s self to have quality sleep as the day ends.

This strain also has anti-inflammatory qualities as well as being able to help relieve mild cases of pains and aches, including migraines and headaches.

As the effect of Power Plant fades, you can expect to feel hungry, or tired, or both.

The seeds from Dutch Passion are unhybridized purebreds. As such, the company says it has a uniform and consistent growth.

Not only is it stable, but it also has high yields. Power Plant can be grown both indoor and outdoor. Although it is slow in flowering, but when it does, you will be amazed.

Flowering Time

Power Plant can be grown using the Screen of Green (ScrOG) method. Take good care of it, as well as maintain it by pruning and trimming.

It has a flowering time of 7 to 9 weeks, and by the time you harvest, you should be able to gather around 17 to 21 ounces per square meter.

With a Mediterranean climate providing for an excellent condition for the Power Plant to grow, you can expect a yield of 21 to 35 ounces per plant by the time you harvest it on Mid-October.

  1. I agree with Ryan in the post from March 15 every word to letter facts he did leave out while growing smells like straight cat pee alas my full alarm when I cured and the fruity taste hit me like ooooo Wooweee been a power plant kinda summer

  2. Hi I believe I have grown one Power plant myself, are their any identifying Characteristics that i could use to tell for sure? The hight, flower, and Yield are all Similar to mine.

  3. I grew four of these plants outdoors in the California North Bay during 2005. It was one of the best strains I’ve ever grown because the yield was exceptional. The plant is compact and does not grow to an enormous tall size. I grew some Jack Herer at the same time and it was a bit too large and uncontrollable for my back yard. I’ve grown many strains both indoors and out since the 80’s and this is one fantastic plant. I got my seeds from an ounce I purchased at CannaMed when it was on Sutter Street in San Francisco. This was a good dispensary that provided free parking at 1101 Sutter, which was a unique experience in and of itself.
