Gorilla Glue #4 Strain

A notoriously sticky strain, Gorilla Glue strain #4 got its name from the fact that growers have a hard time trimming its buds, with the high resin content leading their scissors to stick together.

Thus, this heavy hitter of a strain was born.

Gorilla Glue #4 is said to be sativa-dominant, although it is in fact more accurately an exact hybrid of both sativa and indica properties.

Gorilla Glue origins

Developed by GG Strains, Gorilla Glue #4 has become a sensation in its own right.

It was created by mixing three potent parent strains:

Gorilla Glue #4 has been awarded in a number of Cannabis Cups in 2014 but also in the High Times Jamaican World Cup and is widely touted as a supreme strain that every veteran smoker needs to have tried at least once in their lives.

What breaks up its pungent, mossy scent is that of a certain dark sweetness, much like berries and fresh wild cherries.

Gorilla Glue #4 tastes much the way it smells. Its flavors are all about a dark woody aftertaste, mixed with a hint of earthy pine.

It also has a hint of coffee and chocolate in it, breaking up the dark spicy accents with a hint of the fragrant sweetness. Sometimes, it can leave a slightly chemical aftertaste in your mouth due to its potency and high THC levels.

  1. Hi
Growing your gg outside in Maine. Transplanted at about 4 weeks old into a potent mix of mulch in raised flowerbed. Posted pics of my plant a month ago. It is enormous. Started flowering 5 of 6 weeks ago. Tons of juicy buds. Some fist sized. Question on harvesting. Should I wait for most of pistils to brown or wait for Trichome to go orange? Pistils are half brown on some branches and Trichome s are all mostly milky. Want to start drying at just the right time.

    • Hi there,

Thanks for your comment. That’s good to hear!

Not all plants will get amber/orange trichomes, so don’t hold out for that per se.

In this case, I’d go by pistil coloration and triangulate this with the flowering time elapsed. If its nearing its listed flowering time and has the amount of brown pistils you like, then it should be good to be harvested!

We hope this helps, but let us know if you have any further questions, of course!

      Happy growing,
      ILGM

  4. High Everyone,
First time grower long time toker. I transplanted my Gorilla Glue Auto plant outside when it was 4 weeks old. I did top it twice before the move. Then did some LST after I transplanted it outside at week 5 and 6. It is doing well, nice buds. The pistils are 90% clear, trichomes are clear. Now after the 12th week it started revegging. The temperature did get into the hi 80’s and that might be why it started? It has me puzzled. Should I let it go/grow or what? Any help would be appreciated. Wisconsin Chezhead 🙂

  9. been smoking this amazing plant for 40 years. GG4 is my favorite, I grow different stains and they’re all good. ILGM’s GDP is a close second. but GG4 keeps rising to the top. I grew some outdoor that turned out great last summer. and just trimed a couple indoor plants with next level trichomes. ILGM’s genetics are excellent

  13. GG#4 is my favorite, so far. I got 26 ounces of cured dried bud from one plant grown organically outdoors here in Michigan. The plant was a 7′ tall bush that looked gray from all the THC frost. Crippling buzz. This year’s has reached 7′ the first week in July, super-stretched, topped and, here’s the kicker, has begun to spike/flower like a month early! Seeds came from a plant two years old and not an auto.

    • Temps? Maybe lights too close, high heat and light may be the cause brother they produce the sticky goodness in lights off, see if there is a difference between morning and lights off for your girls perhaps? Best of luck man

  20. Absolutely a fantastic strain. I’m a welder and as such a profession is so demanding on the body, one is thankful in remembering that sticky, dark-green sack of nugs just waiting within my truck to ease away the pains of a hard-worked day.

  21. I recently bought a combo of nutrients and BIG seeds. There were no instructions for the nutrients; had to go on line to find info.I am not sure how to make the measurements, I am not schooled in grams That was inconvenient, but doable. The BIG seeds have not sprouted and I have reseeded 6 to replace the nonsprouting seeds. They were started at the same time as several Agent Orange that are sprouted and coming up just fine. This is my first not so happy customer complaint. I have never had more than an occasional ‘dud’ seed…6 is a bit much.

    • Cynthia,

This is not the place to complain about your seeds my friend. You need to go to support.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com and start a topic in the “customer service” area of the forum. We have staff that are dedicated to seed issues and we offer a guarantee. As far as the nutrients. There is a feeding chart that is downloadable or you can save the “link” (uel), for future reference. For the most part I calculated the grams per feeding to be as follows: Start 1/2 tsp.; Grow 1/2 tsp.; Bloom 3/4 tsp.; Boost 1-2 1/4 tsp. The Boost is to be used with the Bloom, not alone. Use Boost 3-4 weeks before intended harvest for 2 weeks. Go back to just bloom and then flush for a week or 2 (adding just water PH’d at 6.5 for soil). See you in the forums.

    • GA,

You won’t be able to finish a crop outdoors in Michigan planting now. You would not be able to finish before December at the earliest. GG probably takes 4-5 months from seed to harvest, Sorry 🙂

  25. I’ve grown this outdoor for the last few years, and the reaction is always the same.. “Man wtf is that? Seriously the best weed I’ve ever smoked.” Considering some of the best grass in the country comes out of where I live, that’s a serious compliment. I have grown indoors as well but I’ve found personally that it always ends up more potent outdoor for some reason. I’d recommend anyone try this strain. Simple grow, insanely potent and serious yeild.. you can’t go wrong.

  28. I’m into my 3rd grow of gg#4 I’ve done a just straight tree grow, a scrog grow, I’m now 5 weeks into flower doing LST and lollipoping. All 3 where awesome but looks like LST with lollipoping is the way to grow this strain. The colas are to die for. And even the steams are coated with sticky tri-cones the herb butter made from this trim is by far the strongest I’ve ever seen. The buzz whether eaten or smoked is hard hitting and long lasting. For me it’s the best strain I’ve come accross. 2 thumbs up and a big toe!

      • I’m growing gorilla glue#4 right now. My cousin got a few clones last year from a dispensary in Sacramento and I found a couple seeds and decided to grow it indoors. I’m about 2 weeks from harvest and it’s so sticky and smells so good, mmm. It was actually an experiment of mine, I’ve never grown indoors and I’ve only grown 4 other times before this outdoors. I wanted to grow something just to see how I would do indoors because everyone thought my outdoor WAS indoor. So I picked a few seeds and off I went, let me just say that I haven’t had any issues once so ever. No bugs, disease, nothing but just enjoying watching her grow up. I have a couple clones and as soon as I harvest and wipe down everything I’m putting a few into S.c.r.o.g, and seeing the results the second time around though I have to be honest I don’t think the quality could get much better. It’s nice and dense, hecka sticky, and smells so good, pretty proud of my first indoor run just have to ripen for a week and flush for a week and it’s all done except for drying, curing and the best part smoking lol.

      • Hi… my name is Jennifer, I’m also trying to nurture gorilla-#1 from seeds as well lol, for the same reasons as you. To see if I could lol. I don’t know even what the stages of the plants are. I would really like to ask you questions. If you have time…

      • I’ve been growing off an on 4…45 years. I’ve found that with any strain of weed….least we 4 get. Let the plant Du what it has done since the beginning…grow. Help if U see a problem. Otherwise live an let the weed grow. Peace
