Shishkaberry Strain

We have a theory on how this strain got its name. Sometimes it is called the Kish, other times, it may also be called Shishkeberry, but we think Shishkaberry might have taken its name from ‘shish’ and ‘swoosh’. No, we are not referring to what shish and swoosh means, but more like how it sounds.

Sativa/Indica % Indoor Yield Outdoor Yield Flowering Period
20% / 80% 12 to 16 ounces per square meter20 ounces or more per plant45 – 60 days indoors, late September to early October outdoors.

So, to further explain our theory, think about the seaside. One of the most beautiful and relaxing sound you could hear is the sound of waves. If there is one quality about Shishkaberry, other than bringing you to a buzzing cerebral high of euphoria, it is when its strong Indica properties start to kick in.

Not that it creates the sounds of the waves in your mind, but it is how the swish and the swoosh takes your body to a state of total relaxation that if you were on a nice beach on a peaceful and quiet day, those sounds make you lazy and reluctant to move.

With a THC level tested at up to a high 26%, total body high is what you are getting yourself into with this strain.

As expected due to having both Indica parents, Shishkaberry is Indica-dominant with an 80% Indica side. What we know for sure is that one of its parents is the DJ Short Blueberry, but as for the other side, the only thing we know is that it is an Afghani Indica strain.

When the effects of Shishkaberry starts to kick in, it begins with a cerebral high. Your mind starts to have a sensation of elation, which makes you feel happy and relaxed. Another thing you start to notice is how sharp your mind is on focusing.

For those who do not know any better, one might think this Shishkaberry is a good strain to use when there is a need to focus on certain things to do.

But this is an Indica-dominant strain with a monster THC levels between 15% to as high as 26%. It means that it has a powerful sedative quality that starts to creep in now to the body, inducing a total body calm and relaxation, and might leave one locked on the couch. It’s not hard to get up because the lazy feeling is strong.

An hour or so later, your relationship with your couch becomes more intimate as rather than getting up, you start to feel sleepy and go on to call it a day.

Without a doubt, Shishkaberry is one of the best sweet fruity smelling strains. It has a strong pungent berry smell with a slighty earthy undertone. One thing you are bound to do is to sniff this cannabis and literally hear the swish and swoosh as its fragrance passes through your nostril.

Not only would you be attracted to how it smells, but that fragrance also translates well into its taste. Upon inhalation, you taste the same sweet fruity berry flavor. As you exhale, it might be possible to detect a small hint of earthy or herbal taste, while not leaving much of any aftertaste.

There are many popular strains that are direct descendants of the Shishkaberry. Read our full review on Violet Delight Strain.

    Adverse reactions

It would be unnatural for any cannabis strain not to leave a couple of common adverse reactions. Consumers are likely to feel their mouth and eyes dry. Which is why we always recommend drinking water to stay hydrated, at the same time, avoid a slight chance of experiencing a mild headache.

With the Shishkaberry, this is a rare occurrence, but if one could not tolerate its potency, then there might be bouts of panic or increase in the level of paranoia.

As with any cannabis strain that induces both a cerebral and body high, the immediate benefits is in the relief of stress. As a result, the symptoms of mental health issues include anxieties and depression are reduced. Dealing with stress is one of the top medical use of Shishkaberry.

Aside from mental health, the strong sedative property of this strain helps in the relief of chronic pains and aches, which makes it popular for those with asthma and migraines. It also benefits those who are dealing with bouts of nausea. A few consumers have also reported that this strain did improve their appetite.

The strong sedative property also makes Shishkaberry a great strain for use at the end of the day as drowsiness creeps in, helping insomniacs and anyone else having trouble sleeping get a good night’s rest.

Shishkaberry is one of the easiest strains to grow, which makes it ideal for beginners. Also, this is the best strain to grow for those who has a problem being patient as this is one of the fastest to flower cannabis. It can be grown indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse.

      Flowering Time

Shishkaberry grows best using hydroponics and the Sea of Green (SOG) method. In as little as 45 days, it starts flowering. A typical harvest would have a yield between 12 to 16 ounces per square meter.

This is not a picky strain when it comes to the growing environment. Outdoors, it could grow to as tall as 7 feet and even with minimal maintenance, it still would have a good yield of 20 ounces or more per plant. Some things you want to pay attention to, are pests and other diseases that may cause harm to the plant.
